• + Key Ring launches!  Becomes the number one paid shopping app in 48 hours!  Then we made it free 3 weeks later haha
• + Getting a free MyTouch at the google dev conf.  Finally, a phone I would use!
• + Cows and Potatoes!  What a great mix!  3 months later we have a game :)
• + The launch of the Motorola Cliq, Samsung Galaxy, HTC Hero, and soon the HTC DROID!  3 of the 4 largest US carriers now sell android handsets!  AT&T, where you at?????
• + Smack talking DROID commercials on the iPhone!  haha

Working in the mobile space isn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination, but if you thrive off of competition, being innovative, and solving real world problems it can be one of the most rewarding jobs ever!  Here we are a year later with roughly 100,000 customers and I have no doubt we’re going to see explosive growth with android/our apps in the next few months.  It’s been a pleasure working in the android space and we look forward to driving on and delivering best in class applications!

A brief history about the game… 

Why shoot cows with a potato?  I say, why not?! :)  This game was designed entirely for entertainment purposes, but I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t some “real” world experiences thrown into the game-play.  In fact, the potato gun sound in the game was actually record from a real potato gun haha.  My days as an Army artillery sergeant may have had some influence on the game as well…  I can neither confirm nor deny this though :)  We wanted the game to be as realistic as possible, but still offer the silliness of a game, thus the cows were added as targets.  If you’ve never shot a potato gun, you’re certainly missing out.  It’s a surprisingly fun experience. 

Why 3D OpenGL?  This was a tough decision, sort of…  We could have taken the easier route and created a simple 2D shooting game, but in our opinions that wouldn’t have been nearly as fun for the end user.  So instead, we decided to take on the monumentous task of building a 3D game.  This increased the work load about 10 fold, but we knew if we going to have even a remote chance in placing in the ADC we’d need to step up our game (pun intended).  Come to find out, there is a reason there are not many 3D games in the android market… they’re tough to build!  Nonetheless, looking back I’m glad we took this route and we have plenty of fun updates on the way!
